A Good Girl's Guide to Murder

  • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a mystery, "whodunit" book that unfolds the intertwined stories behind the case of Andie Bell in Little Kilton. The abduction & murder case of Andie Bell was abruptly lost due to the suicide of Sal Singh, who "allegedly" killed Andie.

The straight-A student, Pip Amobi-Fitz, who is driven by curiosity and dedication, refuses to simply believe Sal is a murderer like others. Starting as a school project with the topic of the role of social media in police investigations, it develops into a complicated, dynamic journey that can’t be confined to a simple definition of "school project" as secrets and stories of related people are unraveled by Pip.

Ravi Singh, the brother of Sal, is used to being given unacceptable looks and treatment by people because of his similar facial features to Sal. Forming an unbreakable, intimate bond, Ravi and Pip strive to uncover the truth and prove the innocence of Sal Singh, who was undeniably stigmatized as the murderer of an "innocent" Andie. People in Little Kilton have always been revering Andie as the kind, unfortunate girl killed by her monstrous boyfriend, but is it the end of the story? Or is there more?

This book was one of those page-turners that makes you lose track of time. The strength that drags you to read is overwhelmingly strong and soon, you will find yourself completely immersed.

There is a huge plot twist in the end, which was shocking enough that I allow you to get excited about it! There were so many suspects throughout the book that made me equally absorbed as Pip herself, which is why I found it a bit disappointing when the book ended with all those holes still unfilled.

Reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder reminded me of what a selfish, egotistic world we live in -- the incident was heavily dependent on each character's desire to save themselves by taking advantage of those who were unable to look steps ahead. No matter how much something goes against morality and humanity, people will continue to do whatever it takes to protect themselves.

It's very easy to read and relatively straightforward compared to other mystery novels even for a person who doesn't read mysteries often, so why don't you add A Good Girl's Guide to Murder to your book list? 🙌
